Paul Miceli; Founder of Sports Camps of America.
Paul started SCA in 1995. He believes in giving every kid the chance to experience sports in a fun and exciting atmosphere. From 2 weeks of soccer camps in 1995 to 1,500 kids a week year around. Paul started his love for sports in soccer. He grew up and played in Barrington, Illinois. At 15 he traveled to Santos, Brazil where he lived in the Santos stadium and played soccer everyday. He returned in the summer of 1985. In 1997 Paul was drafted right out of high school into the professional soccer league. After a year with The Chicago Sting , the professional league folded. Back to school studying business law at Triton College. While coaching part time Paul knew he had to do something he loved. The idea of SCA was born. Now Paul is doing what he loves, coaching and teaching kids through out the Greater Chicago land area.

Derek Smith; Director of Coaching / Program Director
Derek has dedicated himself to coaching kids on the game of life. Derek has been coaching for eight years, the last three have been with Sports Camps of America. He grew up playing sports at every level. He believes in passing on the knowledge he has experienced from coaching and playing.
Derek graduated form Barrington High School where he earned a Varsity letter in Baseball and Golf. He attended Southern University where he studied child psychology. Derek also knew he had to do something he loved. He is now doing just that. Coaching kids in a variety of sports at all levels. Derek is ASEP certified to coach kids in multiple sports.

Ed Pawlak; Director of Basketball
Ed has been with Sports Camps of America for five years on a part time basis. Ed has developed and built all the Basketball programs for SCA. He coaches in all programs starting with the parent-tot to our adult programs. When Ed first started with SCA he had only coached at the college and high school level. It was a big adjustment to change his philosophies to pertain to a 3 and 4 year old. Now his 3 and 4 year olds are playing at a 6 and 7 year old level. Keeping it fun and exciting is the key to his coaching.
Ed graduated from UNLV, Nevada, where he played on the basketball team and was an assistant coach for two years. Ed has coached AAU and traveling teams through out the Chicago land area for 10 years. Ed believes good foot work and strong ball skills are the main goals to developing a solid player.

Brian Griffin; Director of Marketing
Brian has been with Sports Camps of America for two years. He has coached at all levels and coordinates the parent training programs. Brian is the marketing and advertising Director for SCA.
Brian studied communications and photography at University of Illinois, Springfield. A full time athlete in High School, he lettered in Football, Wrestling and Track. Having participated in sports his entire life, he couldn't pass up the chance to get involved in a career that
